Automatic pool covers in Mijas

Spanish-made slatted covers — PVC or polycarbonate, always motorised — designed, fabricated and fitted by our own team, with a base just along the coast in San Pedro de Alcántara, Marbella.

Automatic slatted covers, made in Spain and fitted across Mijas

Ingerclima designs, builds and installs motorised slatted pool covers — floating shutters of PVC or polycarbonate that roll back at the touch of a button and rest on the water's surface. We are the manufacturer and the installer, both roles under one roof, working throughout Mijas Pueblo, La Cala de Mijas, Las Lagunas and the coastal urbanisations from our own base in San Pedro de Alcántara, just up the coast in Marbella. Every cover we make is motorised; there is no manual version and no product shipped in from abroad — only covers we build ourselves and fit with our own crew.

Why choose Ingerclima

A base on your stretch of coast

Our southern workshop and fitting team sit in San Pedro de Alcántara, Marbella — a short drive from any pool in Mijas. We survey, manufacture and install ourselves, so there are no intermediaries, no imported covers and no waiting on a third party to travel down.

Short, in-house timelines

Because we make our own slats, motors and control units, a Mijas project typically runs 4–6 weeks in the workshop and then just 1–2 days on site — whether your pool is in Calahonda, Riviera del Sol or up at La Cala Golf, the schedule is ours to keep, not a subcontractor's.

Local after-sales that stays local

With more than 20 years and over 5,000 installations behind us, the same team that fits your cover also services it. If a motor or a slat ever needs attention, help comes from our own technicians just along the Costa del Sol — not a distant call centre.

Where we install around Mijas

From the whitewashed lanes of Mijas Pueblo down to the seafront at La Cala, we fit covers across the whole municipality and its neighbouring towns. A selection of the areas we regularly work in:

The Mijas climate and which slat suits your pool

Mijas enjoys one of the mildest climates on the Costa del Sol — more than 2,800 hours of sunshine a year and an average annual temperature of around 19°C. Summers are hot and dry, while winters stay gentle, with daytime highs often near 17–20°C even in January. Those long, warm shoulder seasons make Mijas one of the best places in Spain to keep a pool in use well beyond July and August.

The catch is the water. Along the coast between Fuengirola and La Cala the sea only reaches a comfortable 23–25°C in August and September, and private pools follow a similar lag — glorious by day in high summer, but slow to warm in spring and quick to cool once the autumn rains arrive around November. An automatic cover holds the day's heat overnight and cuts evaporation from the coastal breeze, which is exactly where the choice of slat starts to matter.

For most villas in Riviera del Sol, Calahonda or La Cala Golf we recommend solar polycarbonate slats. They let the strong Mijas sun pass through to warm the water, typically adding several degrees over a season and stretching comfortable bathing into May and October. PVC slats are the robust, economical choice: excellent insulation that holds heat overnight and keeps out the pine needles, leaves and occasional Saharan dust that Mijas gardens know well. Transparent polycarbonate is the design option for homes where the pool takes centre stage against a sea or golf-course view.

Whatever the slat, every Ingerclima cover is motorised and floats on the surface, so it also insulates against the cooler mountain nights felt higher up near Mijas Pueblo and keeps the water clean through the wet, windy weeks of late autumn and winter. The result is a longer, safer and far lower-maintenance bathing season.

Frequently asked questions

How quickly can you install a pool cover in Mijas, and do you travel out to us?

Yes — we cover the whole of Mijas from our base in San Pedro de Alcántara, near Marbella, so there is no long-distance shipping involved. Manufacturing usually takes about 4–6 weeks; once your cover is ready, fitting on site normally takes just one to two days.

Which type of slat works best for the Mijas climate?

For most homes we suggest solar polycarbonate slats, which use the strong Costa del Sol sun to warm the water and extend the bathing season into spring and autumn. PVC is the tough, economical option with excellent insulation, and transparent polycarbonate is chosen where the pool is a design feature. We advise pool by pool during the survey rather than applying a one-size-fits-all answer.

What maintenance does an automatic cover need, and who handles any repairs?

Very little — an occasional rinse of the slats and a quick visual check of the mechanism. Every cover is motorised and built to last; should anything ever need attention, our own technicians service it directly, working from the same Marbella-area team that installed it.
