We build and fit automatic slatted covers for pools in Torrox Costa, El Morche and Torrox Park, and for the terraced villas above Torrox Pueblo. AISI 316L stainless steel, a 230 V motor, and installation on a finished pool or on a new build.
Torrox is two towns in one. Four kilometres inland sits the white village below the Sierra de Almijara; beneath it, nine kilometres of coast and the beaches of Ferrara, Calaceite, El Peñoncillo and El Morche. Up the valley of the río Torrox and across Torrox Park the plots are terraced, often with a retaining wall a metre from the water; on the seafront, in Laguna Beach or the Centro Internacional, the surround is measured to the centimetre.
Torrox has the largest German community in the province of Málaga, and many of those owners live here all year rather than for two weeks in August. A pool used from April to November is not one you shut in September and forget: it is opened and closed most days, it must hold the afternoon's warmth overnight, and it must be safe when grandchildren stay.
Every cover we build is motorised; there is no hand-operated version. The 230 V motor sits inside the shaft, worked by key switch or remote. You choose where the shaft goes, above the water on the coping or submerged in the pool, and which slat: PVC in white, grey, blue or sand, or polycarbonate in solar or clear. Structure, supports and fasteners are AISI 316L stainless steel, and the cover is built to the NF P90-308 standard.
A manufacturer, not a middleman. We have designed, built and fitted our own covers since 2005, from our workshop in Torrijos, Toledo: more than twenty years and over 5,000 covers installed. No commission-only agents, no subcontracted crews, no mark-up for passing your order on. The person who quotes your pool works for the company that builds it.
A base on this coast, not a van from Toledo. Our coastal office is in San Pedro de Alcántara, some 120 kilometres from Torrox on the A-7, an hour and a half along the same coastline rather than a trip from the factory. Survey, installation and later service come from there with our own people, in English or German.
Safety built to NF P90-308. Closed and anchored, the sheet of slats is a physical barrier that stops a child or a pet falling into the water, which is why German and Nordic owners here ask about it first. Our covers are built to NF P90-308, the reference standard for safety barriers on family pools. It is a passive barrier and never replaces adult supervision.
On the coast we install the length of Torrox Costa, from the promenade and the lighthouse to Ferrara, Calaceite and Laguna Beach, and on through El Morche, El Peñoncillo, the Centro Internacional, Vílchez and Mazagarrobo. Inland we cover Torrox Pueblo, Torrox Park at Tablazo and Colinas, the valley of the río Torrox, and neighbouring Nerja, Frigiliana, Cómpeta, Vélez-Málaga, Algarrobo and Sayalonga.
Before anything is built we need to see the way in, because the shaft travels in one piece, several metres long. In Torrox Pueblo the streets climb, narrow and turn into steps: no lorry goes up, so the cover is carried by hand. On the coast the obstacles are garage ramps, communal gates and shared gardens. If your development is not named above, give us the nearest access off the N-340.
In Torrox the salt is not an abstraction. At Ferrara, Calaceite, El Peñoncillo or Laguna Beach the sea is metres away, and an easterly lifts a salt haze that settles on everything in the garden. That is why the shaft, the supports and every screw are AISI 316L stainless steel, the marine grade, and why we ask for a rinse with fresh water every few weeks.
The second factor is the sun. Torrox counts more than three hundred clear days a year, and the coastal developments face south with nothing to shade the slats. That much radiation punishes a badly chosen plastic, so our PVC slat carries ultraviolet treatment and a coextruded profile, so it does not turn brittle or lose colour by the third summer.
Then there is the terral, the dry wind off the Almijara. When it blows, the pool evaporates at a speed that surprises owners from northern Europe, and the chemicals leave with the water. In a district only recently out of years of water restrictions tied to the La Viñuela reservoir, a cover that cuts evaporation by 70 to 80 per cent stops being a convenience.
Which is why the slat here is not a question of taste. PVC is the hard-wearing opaque standard; solar polycarbonate uses the Axarquía sun to warm the water by greenhouse effect, gaining up to 8 °C in a day with nothing consumed; clear polycarbonate keeps the bottom of the pool in view. With an annual average near 18 °C and winter lows rarely below ten, a cover closed overnight gives back part of the day's heat.
Owners who are here part of the year rarely ask about the motor; they ask about the nine months when the house is empty. A closed cover works through all of it: it holds the water in, keeps out salt haze, dust and leaves, and stops the chemicals evaporating into the terral, so the water you find in April is water you can treat rather than empty.
It also decides what a heat pump costs you: evaporation is the largest route by which a pool loses heat, so with the cover in place the consumption of the heating system falls by 50 to 60 per cent. Maintenance is short — a fresh-water rinse every few weeks and the fasteners checked once a year — and a neighbour or key-holder can work the cover meanwhile.
Our photographs from this coast and the Axarquía show both arrangements: the shaft above the water on 316L supports on the coping, with or without a box over it, as fitted to a finished tiled pool; and the submerged shaft, hidden at one end, fitted while the pool is still being built.
Look at them before you settle on a slat: PVC, solar polycarbonate and clear polycarbonate behave very differently under the Torrox sun. Ask for photographs of pools similar to yours and we will send them with the quote.
We manufacture in our own workshop in Torrijos, Toledo, with structure and fittings in AISI 316L stainless steel, and we install the covers ourselves. For a practice, a builder or a developer the cover belongs to the project stage, not the handover: a submerged shaft must be allowed for in the shell before the concrete is poured; a cover that arrives at the end of the job is normally resolved with a visible shaft on the coping.
Send us the pool drawing and the coping detail and we will come back with the free dimensions, the clearance the shaft needs and the electrical requirement. If the job is in Torrox and the client is yours, the relationship stays with you.

We manufacture in our own workshop in Torrijos (Toledo), with the structure and all fittings in 316L stainless steel, and we carry out the installation ourselves. For a practice, a main contractor or a developer, the decision that really matters is taken at design stage: a recess for the submerged shaft has to be allowed for in the pool shell before any concrete is poured, whereas an automatic slatted cover brought in at the end of the build is normally resolved with a visible shaft resting on the coping. If the project is in Torrox and the client is yours, the relationship stays with you.
Tell us where the pool is, how big it is and how you use it, and we will send a quote within 24 hours, with no obligation. Own manufacturing, our own fitting team out of San Pedro de Alcántara, and service with original parts. Call +34 91 631 59 40 and we will fit the survey around your next trip.
