We build and fit automatic slatted covers on the plots of Pinos de Alhaurín, El Lagar, Retamar, Cortijos del Sol and Los Manantiales. AISI 316L stainless steel, 230 V motorisation and construction to NF P90-308, fitted by our own team from our Marbella branch.
Alhaurín de la Torre is not a seafront town, and that changes how a cover is planned. Life here happens on a plot: houses with gardens in Pinos de Alhaurín, El Lagar, Retamar and Cortijos del Sol, country houses at Zapata, Santa Amalia and Torrealquería, and villas around Lauro Golf, almost always with a private family pool.
At 99 metres above sea level, between the Sierra de Mijas and the Málaga basin, the water sits in the sun most of the year and collects the dust off the farmland. A cover answers three things at once: safety, clean water without daily skimming, and far less evaporation in a town drawing on an aquifer under strain.
That last point counts twice over if the house stands empty for part of the year. We have manufactured in Torrijos, Toledo, since 2005 — over 5,000 installations, all built to NF P90-308.
A manufacturer, not a middleman. We design, build and fit the cover ourselves, in our own workshop in Torrijos, Toledo: no commission-based agents, no subcontractors, no mark-up for passing the job on. If a motor or a slat needs attention in ten years, you are still calling the factory that built it.
Our own branch 66 km away, in San Pedro de Alcántara. That run is the A-7, the A-355 towards Coín and then the A-404 — about 50 minutes. Survey, installation and after-sales are handled by our own staff, nothing subcontracted. If you are only in Spain a few weeks at a time, that is what lets us book the visit around your dates.
Safety built to NF P90-308. Closed and locked, a slatted cover is a physical barrier across the whole water surface, and ours are made to NF P90-308, the standard for safety systems on family pools. Where grandchildren come to stay in July, that is often what prompts the call — though it never replaces an adult keeping watch.
We cover the whole municipality: Pinos de Alhaurín, El Lagar, Retamar and La Capellanía on the lower slopes of the Sierra de Mijas; Los Manantiales, Cortijos del Sol, Taralpe and Bellavista de Zambrana in and around the town; Zapata, El Romeral, Torrealquería and Santa Amalia in the outlying districts by the Guadalhorce; and the villas at Lauro Golf. We work in Alhaurín el Grande, Cártama, Torremolinos and Málaga too.
Behind a gate, the practical questions decide the day: whether a van can reach the pool terrace, whether there is a 230 V supply near the water, and who will open up if you are not in the country. All settled at the survey.
Across the 29130 we meet two situations. On finished pools in Pinos de Alhaurín or Retamar we mount the shaft above the water, resting on the coping on AISI 316L stainless steel supports, without touching the shell or the tiling. On new builds at Zapata or around Lauro Golf we leave the pit ready for a submerged shaft.
The climate here is neither the coast's nor the high plateau's: more than 320 days of sunshine, around 485 mm of rain a year and a long season. What defines the summer is the terral, the dry, overheated wind that comes down the Guadalhorce valley and leaves thermometers brushing 40 degrees.
Closed, a cover cuts evaporation by 70-80 % — and that counts for more here than in most places, because the town draws on the Sierra de Mijas aquifer and the lower Guadalhorce, and the council itself has asked residents to go easy on consumption. The chemistry steadies as well, with the chlorine no longer breaking down in the sun.
Salt reaches Alhaurín de la Torre diluted, on the afternoon breeze up from Churriana and Torremolinos, mixed with dust off the market gardens and the Sierra de Mijas marble. That is why our structure, shafts and fittings are AISI 316L stainless steel, the grade used in marine environments.
Which slat? With this sun and wind, PVC is the usual answer — white, grey, blue or sand — light, opaque and unbothered by the radiation. Solar polycarbonate instead puts the valley's sunshine to work, lifting the water by up to 8 °C with no energy consumption; clear polycarbonate is the most discreet on the villas at Lauro Golf. Compare them on our slats page.
If you are not here all year, the cover does most of its work while you are somewhere else: closed, it keeps leaves and farmland dust out of the water, so the pool is usable the afternoon you land rather than three days later.
The spring water is hard, so limescale marks the slats at the water line in high summer — more slowly with the cover on, because the level holds steadier. Clear the slats before opening and rinse them with fresh water once or twice a year; with no real frosts here, there is nothing to winterise.
If something does need a technician, our own people are 50 minutes away, with original spare parts.
The photographs below are our own installations along the Costa del Sol and in the Guadalhorce valley: shafts above the water on finished pools, submerged shafts left ready during the build, PVC and polycarbonate.
Ask when you call if you would like to see one on a pool close to yours.
Alhaurín de la Torre is a step from the coast but it is not the coast: the nights drop further here, which changes both the morning water temperature and the output of any heating equipment.
An air-source heat pump takes its heat from the air, so the colder that air is, the less it delivers — precisely in the small hours, when the pool loses most of its heat. Covering the water breaks that circle: a slatted cover cuts evaporation by 70-80 % and the equipment's consumption by 50-60 %.
So the sensible order is the cover first and the heating sized afterwards, counting on the water reaching the morning close to how you left it.
We manufacture in our own workshop in Torrijos, Toledo, with structure and fittings in AISI 316L stainless steel, and we fit it ourselves: one supplier for the cover, from design stage to handover.
The decision that cannot wait is the shaft. A submerged shaft has to be allowed for in the shell before the concrete is poured; if the cover only appears at the end of the build, the answer is normally a visible shaft on the coping. On a plot at Zapata or Lauro Golf, that choice is made at design stage or not at all.
If the project is in Alhaurín de la Torre and the client comes to us through you, the relationship stays with you.

We manufacture in our own workshop in Torrijos (Toledo), with the structure and all fittings in 316L stainless steel, and we carry out the installation ourselves. For a practice, a main contractor or a developer, the decision that really matters is taken at design stage: a recess for the submerged shaft has to be allowed for in the pool shell before any concrete is poured, whereas an automatic slatted cover brought in at the end of the build is normally resolved with a visible shaft resting on the coping. If the project is in Alhaurín de la Torre and the client is yours, the relationship stays with you.
