We build, fit and service automatic slatted covers across Manilva: the hillside villas of Bahía de las Rocas and Hacienda Guadalupe, the houses at Duquesa Golf and El Hacho, the community and apartment pools of Sabinillas and Puerto de la Duquesa. Made to measure in Torrijos, fitted by our own team from San Pedro de Alcántara.
Manilva is the last municipality in Málaga before the Cádiz border, and it shows in its pools. Three worlds sit side by side: the pueblo, up among the moscatel vineyards; the strip of San Luis de Sabinillas and Puerto de la Duquesa, all communities and townhouses; and the hillsides of Bahía de las Rocas, Hacienda Guadalupe and Punta Chullera, villas on sloping plots above the Strait.
Many of those houses are second homes that stand closed for weeks. Fly in for a fortnight in June and again at half term and you know the pattern: by September the pool is full of leaves and of sand off the levante, the level has dropped, and the first days go on the water rather than in it.
An automatic slatted cover answers all of that at once. It closes the pool in under two minutes from a key switch, cuts evaporation by 70-80% so the level and the chemistry hold while you are away, and leaves the surface covered whenever the house is empty. Every cover is built to measure in our own workshop in Torrijos, Toledo, where we have made them since 2005: over 5,000 installations, all built to NF P90-308.
The manufacturer, not a middleman. We design, build and install the cover ourselves, so you deal directly with the people who make it: no commission-only agents, no subcontracted fitters, no mark-up for passing the job on. Write to us in English; the same office follows your pool from the first measurement to the after-sales visit.
A coastal base 35 km away. Our Costa del Sol branch is in San Pedro de Alcántara, some 35 km along the A-7 and half an hour from Puerto de la Duquesa. Whoever measures your pool in Manilva fits it, and comes back if a limit switch needs resetting. Nobody drives down from Toledo for a site visit.
Safety built to NF P90-308. Closed, a slatted cover is a rigid barrier over the water, not a sheet floating on it, and that is the difference that counts when grandchildren are in the garden in August. It is built to the NF P90-308 standard and worked by a key that goes in your pocket.
We cover the whole municipality, from the pueblo to the shoreline: up the A-377 to Manilva, down to Sabinillas, La Duquesa and Punta Chullera, the exact point where Málaga gives way to Cádiz. We work either side of that line too: Sotogrande and San Roque west, Casares and Estepona east.
Around the golf that means Puerto de la Duquesa, Duquesa Golf, El Hacho and Los Hidalgos; along the coast, San Luis de Sabinillas, Castillo de la Duquesa, Aldea Beach and Hacienda Guadalupe; in the village and the hills above it, Manilva pueblo, Bahía de las Rocas, Punta Chullera and Martagina.
A practical note for the 29691: on these hillsides vehicle access does not always reach the pool. In Bahía de las Rocas and the villas of Hacienda Guadalupe we carry the shaft down on foot by steps and ramps; in the old village the van stops well short. So we measure the access the same day as the pool: coping level, slope, how the material gets in. If your urbanisation has a barrier or gate code, tell us when you book and we deal with the community.
Manilva faces the Strait, which sets it apart from the rest of the Costa del Sol. When the levante blows, the wind comes channelled up from Tarifa carrying salt in suspension, and it settles on everything outdoors: on the front line at Punta Chullera or Castillo de la Duquesa, an untreated railing pits within a couple of summers. Hence AISI 316L stainless steel throughout, from the shaft and brackets to the last screw: the grade that holds against chlorides.
The same levante brings sand. Along the Sabinillas promenade and the beach at Castillo de la Duquesa, one windy weekend leaves a fine veil on the pool floor that the cleaner takes days to lift. With the cover closed, that sand sits on the slats and hoses off before you open up.
The sun is strong and the season long: people still swim in Manilva in October. On the sloping, barely shaded plots of Bahía de las Rocas, water evaporates all day and the pool wants topping up weekly. Closed overnight, the cover stops most of that loss and holds much of the day's heat, so the water is usable earlier in spring and later in autumn.
Maintenance here is not inland maintenance. A cover in Toledo needs one look each spring; one in Manilva wants a freshwater rinse every few weeks, especially with salt electrolysis, because the salt in the water and the salt in the air add up. Whoever looks after the house can do it with a hose; we check anchorings, end stops and the sealed 230 V motor each visit. The slat matters too: PVC in white, grey, blue or sand suits a house closed for months; solar polycarbonate lifts the water up to 8 °C with no energy at all; clear polycarbonate lets you see the pool.
The heat pump and the cover are often treated as two separate purchases. They are not: one decides what the other costs to run. A pool loses heat four ways, through evaporation, night-time radiation, convection and conduction, and evaporation is by far the largest. A slatted cover cuts it by 70-80%, and the heating system's consumption falls with it by 50-60%.
A heated pool left open spends the night replacing the heat it loses, an expensive way to warm the air above Manilva. Settle the cover first and size the heat pump afterwards, with the losses already under control: a smaller unit and a smaller bill.
More than 5,000 covers have left the Torrijos workshop in twenty years, a good share on this coast between Sotogrande and Estepona. The photographs show the two shapes the finished job takes: a visible shaft low on the coping of an existing pool, or a submerged shaft hidden inside the pool on a new one.
Nothing is cut down from a standard size on site. The length of the shaft, the width of the slat and the housing come off the drawing we make on the day of the measuring visit.
We manufacture in our own workshop in Torrijos, Toledo, with structure and fittings in AISI 316L stainless steel, and we install it ourselves. The cover belongs in the project stage: a submerged shaft must be allowed for inside the pool before the concrete goes in, while one arriving at the end of the build is normally resolved with a visible shaft on the coping.
In Manilva that carries a local twist. Many plots in Bahía de las Rocas or Hacienda Guadalupe are resolved with retaining walls and changes of level, so the housing for a submerged shaft and the route for its conduit have to be drawn in early, and the delivery access with them. If the client is yours, the relationship stays with you.

We manufacture in our own workshop in Torrijos (Toledo), with the structure and all fittings in 316L stainless steel, and we carry out the installation ourselves. For a practice, a main contractor or a developer, the decision that really matters is taken at design stage: a recess for the submerged shaft has to be allowed for in the pool shell before any concrete is poured, whereas an automatic slatted cover brought in at the end of the build is normally resolved with a visible shaft resting on the coping. If the project is in Manilva and the client is yours, the relationship stays with you.
Tell us where the pool is, whether Sabinillas, the pueblo, Duquesa Golf or a villa up at Punta Chullera, and we will have a made-to-measure quotation with you inside 24 hours, no obligation.
