Automatic pool covers in Granada

We make and fit automatic slatted pool covers in the city of Granada, on the Costa Tropical and right across the province. The same team that builds your cover is the team that fits it to your pool, with the slat matched to the climate of your own area: from the vega down to the sea. Three-year warranty covering structure, motor, slats and installation.

Why in Granada the cover depends on the micro-climate

Few Spanish provinces pack as much climatic variety into so little ground as Granada. In barely an hour's drive you go from the provincial capital and the vega, the fertile plain around it — summers above 38 °C and winters that drop below 0 °C — to the Costa Tropical, which can claim more than 320 days of sunshine a year, mild winters and temperatures that rarely fall below 12 °C. And above all of it, Sierra Nevada, where pools live with frost and snow. That spread is why a “standard” cover does not work here: the right slat in Motril is not the right slat in Guadix or in Cenes de la Vega.

And there are a great many pools: the Catastro has 40,956 outdoor pools on record across the 174 municipalities of the province, 3,278 more than in 2022 — 8.7 % growth in four years. Almuñécar is the second municipality in Granada by number of pools — 2,140, behind only the provincial capital — and ahead of far better-known coastal towns. Motril adds another 1,474 and Salobreña a further 892. These are Catastro figures, not estimates of ours: they count only the pools that are on the register, so they are a floor and not a ceiling.

At Ingerclima we are the manufacturer: we design, build and fit every cover with our own team, with no subcontractors and no middlemen. We serve the whole province from our factory in Torrijos (Toledo) or from our Andalusia branch in San Pedro de Alcántara (Marbella), and we advise area by area so that you choose the model and the type of slat that genuinely performs in the climate your own pool sits in. And one more thing, for the sake of honesty: we have no office and no team in Granada or on the Costa Tropical, and we would rather you knew that before you ring us.

Which cover suits a pool in Granada?

In Granada there is no single answer: the right cover depends on which climatic band your pool sits in. That is why we split the recommendation by area — what protects a pool out on the vega is not what performs best down on the coast.

In the city of Granada, the vega and inland (Guadix, Baza, Loja, Santa Fe) the choice is governed by cold winters with frequent frosts and very hot summers. Here the opaque PVC slat is the one most people ask for: it insulates the water from the cold, slows evaporation through the worst of the summer heat and keeps the pool clean all year. If you also want to stretch the season, solar polycarbonate warms the water passively in spring and autumn.

On the Costa Tropical (Motril, Almuñécar, Salobreña, La Herradura) the thinking changes completely. With mild winters and more than 320 days of sunshine, the aim is to use the pool for almost the whole year. The solar polycarbonate slat picks up the radiation even in the cold months and lets you carry the swimming season well beyond the summer. Higher up, around Sierra Nevada, where frost and snow come into it, we specify materials that stand up to extreme cold without the cover losing any of its properties.

See all the systems in Cover models and the materials in Slat types, or call us and we will advise you, with no obligation, for the part of Granada your pool is in.

How many months can you swim in Granada?

With an automatic cover drawn over the water at night, the swimming season in Granada runs from May to October. Without one the pool gives you little more than a short summer: the water is slow to warm up in spring and loses it again as soon as the sun eases off.

The cover does two things at once: it stops evaporation, which is where most of the heat goes, and if you choose solar polycarbonate slats it lets the sun through and warms the water underneath at no running cost. And if you want the same temperature right through the season, a heat pump with the cover in place uses 50 to 60 % less energy.

What owners in Granada ask us

Do you install on the Costa Tropical and in mountain areas such as Sierra Nevada?

Yes. We install right across the province of Granada, from the Costa Tropical towns such as Motril, Almuñécar, Salobreña or La Herradura up to the highest municipalities around Sierra Nevada and the districts of Guadix and Baza. Our slats are tested to take both the fierce heat of the coast and the frost and snow of the interior.

Which slat is better: for the vega and the capital, or for the Costa Tropical?

It depends on the area. In the city of Granada, the vega and inland we recommend the opaque PVC slat for its insulation against the winter cold, or solar polycarbonate if you want to warm the water passively in spring and autumn. On the Costa Tropical, with mild winters and more than 320 days of sunshine, solar polycarbonate is the better choice because it lets you stretch the swimming season over almost the whole year.

How long does installation take in the province of Granada?

Once the order is confirmed, we build the cover to measure in 4 to 6 weeks, plus the installation. Fitting it to the pool takes one or two days depending on how involved the job is. We arrange the survey visit from our factory in Torrijos (Toledo) or from our Andalusia branch, which serves the whole province of Granada.

How much does a pool cover cost in Granada?

The cost depends on the model, the type of slat (PVC or polycarbonate) and the dimensions of the pool, so every cover is quoted individually. As the manufacturer, selling direct with no middlemen, we quote at factory prices. Tell us where your pool is and roughly what size it is and we will send you a no-obligation quote in under 24 hours.

Architects, contractors and developers in Granada

We manufacture in our own workshop in Torrijos (Toledo), with the structure and all fittings in AISI 316L stainless steel, and we take care of the installation. For a practice, a main contractor or a developer, the thing that matters is deciding the cover at project stage: a submerged shaft has to be allowed for in the shell before any concrete is poured, and if the cover arrives at the end of the build the normal answer is a visible shaft resting on the coping stone. If the project is in Granada and the client is yours, the relationship stays with you.
