We work in all three Casares: the apartments and villas of Casares Costa, the hillside villas around Finca Cortesín, and the houses in the village, 435 metres up under the Sierra Crestellina. Every cover is made in our own factory in Torrijos and fitted by our own team out of San Pedro de Alcántara, 35 kilometres up the AP-7.
Casares is not one village with a beach attached: it is three settlements, with three kinds of pool and three different problems. On the coast, between Playa Ancha and Piedra Paloma, the pools belong to communities and recently built villas — Alcazaba Lagoon, Bahía de Casares, Casares del Sol, Doña Julia — and many are still under construction, so the submerged shaft, hidden beneath the coping, is genuinely on the table.
Higher up, towards Finca Cortesín and Casares Costa Golf, the villas are finished and the pools large, often with an overflow edge. There we fit the shaft above the water, on supports resting on the coping, without cutting the shell or the lining. In the village the pools are smaller and the access narrow: the street decides the design.
We make every cover in our own Torrijos factory, in Toledo, where we have built since 2005, and our own San Pedro team fits it, never a subcontractor. Every cover is motorised and runs on 230 V; there is no manual version. More than 5,000 fitted, built to the NF P90-308 safety standard.
A manufacturer, not a middleman. We design the cover, build it and fit it, so you deal directly with the people who make it: no commission-based agents and no subcontractors. If English is easier than Spanish, write to us in English and we will answer in English.
The team comes from San Pedro, not from Toledo. Our coastal branch is about 35 kilometres from Casares Costa on the AP-7, a little over half an hour. It lets us measure the pool the same week you call, fit it in a morning, and come back for a single slat or a limit switch. If you are only here part of the year, that is the whole point.
Safety built to NF P90-308. Closed, a slatted cover is not a net or a sheet laid over the water: it is a continuous physical barrier that protects children and pets. The motor runs on a key switch, so you close the cover, take the key out and the surface stays shut. For grandchildren out for a fortnight in August, that beats a rule everyone has to remember.
We cover the municipality's three centres — Casares Costa, Casares pueblo and El Secadero — and go down the A-7 and the AP-7 just as often towards Manilva, Sotogrande and Estepona. On the coast: Alcazaba Lagoon, Bahía de Casares, Marina de Casares, Casares del Sol. Around the golf: Finca Cortesín, Doña Julia, Hacienda Casares, Casares Costa Golf. Neighbours: Estepona, Manilva, Sotogrande and Gaucín.
An honest word about access in Casares (29690). The municipality splits between the coastal flat and the hills, and that changes the installation. In Casares Costa the lorry drives onto the plot; in the high villas around Cortesín and in the village streets it does not, so we unload below and carry the shaft and the slats up by hand. We measure the access before giving a date.
Much of Casares Costa is managed communities with gates, and the owner is often not in Spain on the day. Tell us at quote stage who can let us in — the administrator, a caretaker or your pool maintenance firm — and we plan the visit and the fitting around them.
Casares Costa sits at the water's edge: barely two kilometres of shoreline between Playa Ancha and Piedra Paloma, and a pool that close takes marine aerosol daily. Salt does not attack the slat, which is plastic, but it attacks everything metal holding it up. That is why our shaft, supports, end caps and fixings are AISI 316L stainless steel, the grade specified for marine environments.
Casares is one of the last Málaga municipalities before Cádiz: the levante and the poniente off the Strait blow harder here than in Marbella, and such a wind fills a pool with dry leaves and sand in an afternoon. Closed, the cover seals the water edge to edge, so the shell stays clean while you are away.
The season does not end in August: between the golf and the holiday lets, pools in Casares Costa are in use in October and people want back in by April, and a cover closed overnight holds much of the day's heat. Up in the village, at 435 metres, nights are cooler and winter brings leaves off the hillside, so there the cover is mainly a lid: less dirt, less chemical product, fewer filtration hours. It cuts evaporation by 70-80 % and pool heating consumption by 50-60 %.
Which slat for Casares? PVC in white, grey, blue and sand, or polycarbonate, solar or clear. In the front line, with hard sun and salt in the air, PVC is sensible: it lasts and rinses clean with fresh water. In the Cortesín villas, where the pool is on show from the living room, many prefer solar polycarbonate, which lifts the water by up to 8 °C with no energy use.
Our photo library is the honest version of a brochure: real pools on this coast, photographed open and closed. You will see both arrangements, the submerged shaft beneath the coping on new-build pools and the shaft above the water on pools already finished.
What repeats is what we recommend here: PVC on front-line pools, solar polycarbonate where the cover is permanently in view, AISI 316L stainless steel throughout the structure.
We manufacture in our Torrijos workshop, in Toledo, with the structure and fittings in AISI 316L stainless steel, and we install ourselves. For a practice, a builder or a developer, what matters is deciding the cover at design stage: a submerged shaft has to be allowed for in the shell before it is concreted. If the cover appears only at the end of the job, it is normally resolved with a visible shaft above the water.
Much of what is going up in Casares Costa is new work, so dealing directly with the builder or the studio is the norm here. Send a plan and the pool dimensions and we will tell you what fits, including the clearance the shaft needs at each end. If the project is in Casares and the client is yours, the relationship is with you.
The heat pump and the cover are often treated as two separate purchases. They are not: one decides what the other costs to run. Water loses heat four ways — evaporation, night radiation, convection and conduction — and evaporation is by far the largest. A slatted cover cuts it by 70-80 %, and with it heating consumption by 50-60 %.
A heated pool left uncovered spends the night replacing the heat it loses to the sky, and where people swim in April and October that is most of the bill. So in Casares the sensible order is the cover first, the heat pump sized afterwards with the losses under control. If you are buying into a new villa at Casares Costa, insist on that order.

We manufacture in our own workshop in Torrijos (Toledo), with the structure and all fittings in 316L stainless steel, and we carry out the installation ourselves. For a practice, a main contractor or a developer, the decision that really matters is taken at design stage: a recess for the submerged shaft has to be allowed for in the pool shell before any concrete is poured, whereas an automatic slatted cover brought in at the end of the build is normally resolved with a visible shaft resting on the coping. If the project is in Casares and the client is yours, the relationship stays with you.
