Which slat suits the Marbella climate?
Marbella enjoys one of the mildest climates on the Mediterranean coast, with long warm summers, gentle winters and generous sunshine. In practice the natural bathing season runs from around June to October, when sea temperatures sit near 22–23°C, while the sheltered microclimate keeps daytime winter temperatures comfortable. An automatic cover works with that climate rather than against it: it keeps the pool clean between swims, cuts evaporation under the strong summer sun, and holds in warmth once the air begins to cool in the shoulder months.
PVC slats are the robust, cost-effective choice and our most popular option. They stand up well to intense summer heat and to everyday debris — the pine needles and dust common on the wooded plots of Elviria, Las Chapas and Cabopino — while providing a solid safety surface and a clean, discreet finish that suits most villa pools.
Solar polycarbonate slats are worth considering if you want to make the most of Marbella's long season. They capture sunlight and transfer heat into the water, warming the pool by a few degrees and letting you comfortably extend swimming well into spring and autumn — a real advantage on the days when the sea has cooled but the sun is still out.
Transparent polycarbonate slats are the design-led option, favoured on high-specification homes around Sierra Blanca and the Golden Mile where the pool is a visual centrepiece. They keep the water surface visible while delivering the same automatic convenience, evaporation control and everyday protection as the other slats.
