We fit automatic slatted covers on the seafront at La Atunara and Torrenueva, in Santa Margarita and El Zabal and on the villas of La Alcaidesa, with the Rock of Gibraltar in front and the levante blowing in sideways all summer. Made in our own Spanish factory and fitted by our own team in San Pedro de Alcántara.
La Línea is not a resort where the pools sit shut for nine months. It is a working city of more than sixty thousand people, with houses in Santa Margarita, El Zabal and Torrenueva and owners who cross into Gibraltar each morning. The pools are used from April to October, and much of that time nobody is beside them.
If you keep a villa or an apartment here and are away for weeks at a stretch, that gap is the problem. An automatic slatted cover closes it: you shut the pool from the remote before you lock up, and it stays clean, warmer and physically safe for as long as you are gone.
Every cover is made to measure at our own plant in Torrijos, Toledo, and fitted by our own team from the San Pedro de Alcántara branch, next to Marbella. We have been at it since 2005, with more than 5,000 installations behind us, and you deal with us in English throughout.
We are the manufacturer, not a middleman. We design, build and fit the cover ourselves: no commission-based agent, no subcontracted crew, no mark-up for passing your job on. Ask how the shaft has been sized, or which slat suits your pool, and you are asking the people who make it.
Our own branch in San Pedro de Alcántara. It is a little over sixty kilometres to La Línea on the AP-7 and the A-7, under an hour. The technician who measures is the one who fits the cover and the one who returns if a limit switch needs adjusting — which matters when you are abroad.
Safety built to NF P90-308. Closed, a slatted cover is a physical barrier between the water and whoever is in the garden, and it works as well for pets as for visiting grandchildren. Every cover we make is built to the NF P90-308 anti-drowning standard.
We cover La Línea from the town centre to the San Roque boundary and on along the A-383 and the CA-34 towards the bay: the seafront at La Atunara, Los Junquillos, La Colonia and Santiago-Conchal; Santa Margarita, El Zabal, Torrenueva and Cañada Real to the north; and the villas of La Alcaidesa, Balcón de la Alcaidesa and Alcaidesa Cortijo, with the houses around La Hacienda Links. San Roque, Sotogrande, Algeciras and Los Barrios too.
If your house sits behind a gate, as most La Alcaidesa properties do, tell us when you book and we will arrange access with the gatehouse or whoever holds the keys. We can survey and fit while you are abroad, and send photographs afterwards.
An honest warning about this town: inside the 11300 postcode there are many pools from the nineteen-seventies and eighties with the shell tight against the boundary wall and no clear run at either end for the shaft. Where that is so, we tell you on the visit, not afterwards. On an existing pool we mount the shaft above the water, resting on the coping at one end, so nothing is cut out of the shell and the lining is untouched. The submerged version only works in a pool being built or refurbished.
The levante governs everything here and behaves like nothing you will have met inland. The Strait works as a funnel: the wind accelerates, blows for days on end and drops fine sand, leaves off the Sierra Carbonera and anything loose in the garden onto the water. Closed, the cover holds all that on the slats to be brushed off; open, it ends up in the filter.
The second factor is salt. With open sea on one side and the Bay of Algeciras on the other, and humidity around 70 per cent, the salt air eats ordinary ironmongery in a couple of seasons. That is why our whole structure, shafts, supports and fixings included, is AISI 316L stainless steel, the grade specified for marine environments. It is not an optional upgrade: it is the only material we build in.
La Línea gets close to 2,900 hours of sunshine a year and an average annual temperature near 19 degrees, which stretches the season well past August. Close the cover at dusk and the water keeps much of the heat it gathered; in April or October those few degrees decide whether anyone gets in. Port and industrial traffic around the bay also leaves a fine dust on the surface, and summer evaporation means constant topping up and chemical correction. A closed pool cuts the lot, which counts double in a house that stands empty most of the week.
With this climate the slat matters. PVC, in white, grey, blue or sand, is the robust, low-maintenance choice for most pools here. Solar polycarbonate captures radiation and warms the water by up to 8 degrees with nothing running and nothing to pay; transparent polycarbonate lets you see the pool and its lighting. Which suits you depends on orientation, exposure to the levante and how you use the pool.
In La Línea the wind is part of the landscape, and wind is what accelerates evaporation. Every litre that evaporates carries off the heat it cost to evaporate, which lands straight on the running cost of any heating.
An automatic slatted cover cuts that loss by between 70 and 80 per cent, and a heat pump's consumption falls by between 50 and 60 per cent. On a plot exposed to the levante, or the poniente from the other side, the gap is wider still.
So our advice here is the same as all along this coast: the cover before the equipment. Covered overnight, the water reaches the morning close to where you left it, and the pump only has to hold it.
The photographs here are covers we have fitted around the Campo de Gibraltar: visible shafts on existing pools, boxed shafts, submerged units on new builds, PVC and polycarbonate slats in every colour.
There are more in our photo library, and on the visit we can show you the closest ones.
We manufacture in our own workshop in Torrijos, Toledo, with the structure and all fittings in AISI 316L stainless steel, and we install it ourselves. For a practice, a builder or a developer, a cover is a design-stage decision: a submerged shaft must be allowed for in the shell before the concrete goes in, and a cover that arrives at the end of the programme is normally resolved with a visible shaft.
We can work from your drawings, set out the clearances and the electrical provision to leave, and attend site when it suits the programme. If the project is in La Línea and the client is yours, the client stays yours, and we can send over our slat comparison document.

We manufacture in our own workshop in Torrijos (Toledo), with the structure and all fittings in 316L stainless steel, and we carry out the installation ourselves. For a practice, a main contractor or a developer, the decision that really matters is taken at design stage: a recess for the submerged shaft has to be allowed for in the pool shell before any concrete is poured, whereas an automatic slatted cover brought in at the end of the build is normally resolved with a visible shaft resting on the coping. If the project is in La Línea de la Concepción and the client is yours, the relationship stays with you.
