We manufacture and fit automatic slatted covers for private pools across Torremolinos: the hillside villas of Montemar Alto and El Pinillo, the owners' communities of Playamar and Los Álamos, and the narrow-plot houses of La Carihuela and El Bajondillo. Our own crew works out of our Costa del Sol branch in San Pedro de Alcántara, a little over half an hour away.
Torremolinos fits into little more than twenty square kilometres and is the most densely built municipality on the western Málaga coast. It shows in the pools: tight shells, narrow plots in El Calvario and La Carihuela, gardens hung off the hillside in Montemar Alto and the Cañada del Lobo, and dozens of owners' communities between Playamar and Los Álamos where a hundred neighbours share one pool. A slatted cover suits that because it takes no garden away: the shaft rests on the coping, with or without a housing, or hides under the water where the works allow it.
If you are not in Spain all year, what matters most is the months you are away. A closed cover keeps leaves, sand and dust out, so the filtration pump works less and the pool is not waiting for you in a state that needs a fortnight of chemicals. Closed, it is also a physical barrier over the water — the point owners raise first when grandchildren come to stay — and it is built to NF P90-308.
Before anything is manufactured we measure the pool shell, the coping and the real route up to it: the shaft arrives in a single piece, and here it comes in through staircases, ramps and entrance-hall corridors rather than along an open drive. Manufacturing since 2005, more than 5,000 covers fitted.
A manufacturer, not a middleman. We design, build and fit the cover ourselves, in our own workshop. You deal directly with the company that makes it: no commission-based agents, no subcontracted fitters, no mark-up for passing your project down a chain. Enquiries and quotations can be handled in English.
Our own branch on the Costa del Sol. The factory is in Torrijos, in Toledo, but we do not come to Torremolinos from inland: our branch is in San Pedro de Alcántara, some 55 kilometres away on the AP-7. The same team surveys, fits and returns to check the cover, which counts for a great deal when something needs looking at while you are abroad.
Safety built to NF P90-308. Closed, a slatted cover is a physical barrier that protects children and pets, built to the NF P90-308 standard. Every cover is motorised, driven by a 230 V motor, and the control can be left on a key switch or a handset so that only the people you choose can open the pool.
We cover the whole municipality, from the sea front at El Bajondillo up to the urbanisations on the hillside, and we carry on into Benalmádena and towards Churriana. If your house sits in the band served by the Los Álamos, La Colina, Montemar Alto and El Pinillo stations, it is a short run for us.
Town centre and sea front: El Bajondillo, La Carihuela, El Calvario, Playamar. Higher residential areas: Montemar, Montemar Alto, El Pinillo, La Colina. The levante side and the foot of the sierra: Los Álamos, El Saltillo, the Cañada del Lobo and the area around the Molino de Inca. Neighbouring municipalities: Benalmádena, Málaga (Churriana), Alhaurín de la Torre and Fuengirola.
One honest warning: in Torremolinos (29620) there is almost never anywhere to park beside the pool. In La Carihuela and El Calvario we unload in a narrow street and carry the shaft in by hand; in Montemar Alto and the Cañada del Lobo there are ramps and flights of steps. If you are abroad, a few photographs from a neighbour or whoever holds your keys save a wasted morning.
Torremolinos has more than three hundred days of sunshine a year and an annual average of around 18 degrees, so the pool is good for far more than July and August. But the water cools overnight, and a closed cover works as night-time insulation: it holds the stored heat and stretches the season at both ends without spending more.
At the head of the bay of Málaga the terral rules — the land wind that comes down dry and overheated from the Guadalhorce valley and the Sierra de Mijas and sends evaporation through the roof. An uncovered pool visibly drops in level during those spells and needs topping up every few days, with the chemical imbalance that brings — harder to manage from another country. A cover cuts that evaporation by 70 to 80 per cent.
The other wind is the levante, which comes straight in because the coast faces east into the bay. It lifts the sand off Playamar, Los Álamos and La Carihuela, along with the reddish dust of the late-summer calima, and it all ends up on the bottom and in the filter. With the cover on, the bottom is clean in the morning.
Then there is the salt. A few metres from the promenade at El Bajondillo or La Carihuela the air is loaded with it, and ordinary fittings pit within a couple of summers. That is why our entire structure is AISI 316L stainless steel, the grade used in marine environments: shaft, supports, guides and fixings, without exception.
PVC slats are opaque and hard-wearing, in white, grey, blue or sand, and they are the choice where the sun beats down all year and the pool never rests — which describes the Playamar and Los Álamos communities exactly.
Solar polycarbonate lets the sun's radiation through and warms the water on its own, by up to 8 degrees with nothing consumed and nothing to switch on: worth asking about if you come out at Easter or stay into October. Transparent polycarbonate is chosen mainly so as not to hide the view from the terrace. Underneath either one, the structure is the same 316L stainless steel.
The photographs here are our own work along this coast: covers fitted on already built pools and on new ones, with the shaft above the water and submerged, in PVC and in polycarbonate.
Almost everything we do here falls into two groups: the individual house on a tight or sloping plot, in Montemar Alto, El Calvario or the Cañada del Lobo, and the apartment-block pool belonging to an owners' community between Playamar and Los Álamos. The engineering is the same; the access and the paperwork are not.
We manufacture in our own workshop in Torrijos, in Toledo, with structure and fittings in AISI 316L stainless steel, and we install with our own crew. The point for a practice, a builder or a developer is that the cover belongs in the design stage and not in the snagging list: a submerged shaft must be allowed for inside the pool shell before the concrete is poured, while a cover specified at the end of the job is normally resolved with a visible shaft on the coping.
We work from drawings, we put the dimensions the shell needs in writing, and we can attend site at the moment it matters. If the project is in Torremolinos and the client is yours, the relationship stays with you.
The heat pump and the cover are often treated as two separate purchases. They are not: one decides what the other costs to run. Water loses heat by four routes — evaporation, radiation at night, convection and conduction — and evaporation is by a wide margin the largest.
A slatted cover reduces evaporation by 70 to 80 per cent, and with the cover in place the consumption of the pool heating system falls by 50 to 60 per cent. A heated pool left uncovered spends the night replacing the heat escaping from its surface. The sensible order here is to settle the cover first and size the heat pump afterwards, with the losses already under control.

We manufacture in our own workshop in Torrijos (Toledo), with the structure and all fittings in 316L stainless steel, and we carry out the installation ourselves. For a practice, a main contractor or a developer, the decision that really matters is taken at design stage: a recess for the submerged shaft has to be allowed for in the pool shell before any concrete is poured, whereas an automatic slatted cover brought in at the end of the build is normally resolved with a visible shaft resting on the coping. If the project is in Torremolinos and the client is yours, the relationship stays with you.
