Automatic pool covers in Elviria, Marbella

We design, manufacture and fit automatic slatted covers for the pools of Elviria, Elviria Hills, Las Chapas, El Rosario, Marbesa and Cabopino. Our factory is in Torrijos; our fitting team works out of San Pedro de Alcántara, half an hour away on the A-7.

Automatic pool covers, made and fitted for Elviria homes

Elviria is not just another district of eastern Marbella: it is a pinewood with houses inside it. Between El Rosario and the dunes of Artola, 1960s villas with pools built long ago sit alongside newer houses on the Elviria Hills hillside, and the two are solved differently.

On a pool that already exists we fit the shaft raised above the coping, without touching the shell or lifting the paving. On a new build we allow for a submerged shaft from the outset, hidden under the water in a pit at the end of the shell, out of sight.

Every cover we make is motorised and runs on 230 V; there is no manual version. It is built in our own plant in Torrijos, Toledo, with structure, shaft, brackets and fixings all in AISI 316L stainless steel, and it is built to NF P90-308, the reference standard for pool-cover safety. We have manufactured since 2005, passed 5,000 installations, and the Costa del Sol is one of our busiest areas for after-sales work.

Why choose Ingerclima

A manufacturer, not a middleman. We draw, build and fit the cover ourselves, so you deal directly with the people who make it: no agents on commission, no subcontracted fitters, no mark-up for intermediaries. If you are abroad much of the year, it also means one point of contact from the first measurements to an adjustment years later.

A branch on the coast, in San Pedro de Alcántara. Our coastal base is at C. Jorge Guillén 6, some 24 kilometres from Elviria on the A-7: half an hour in the van. We do not send a team down from Torrijos for every small job. A slat caught by a pine branch, or a limit switch that has drifted, is seen the same week, whether or not you are in the house.

Safety built to NF P90-308. Closed, a rigid slatted cover is a physical barrier, not a warning: the slats bear on the coping and keep a small child from reaching the water, which is what the standard asks of it. It keeps dogs out too.

Where we work around Elviria

We cover the whole of the 29604 postcode: from the Pinar de Elviria and the Elviria Hills hillside to the flat streets of Marbesa and Costabella, taking in Las Chapas, Hacienda Las Chapas, El Rosario, Ricmar, Cerrado de Elviria, Artola and the marina at Cabopino. We also work in Marbella itself and in Mijas, Ojén and Fuengirola. If your urbanisation is not on the list, ask us.

One practical warning about the 29604: hardly any villa in Elviria has easy access. In Elviria Hills and Cerrado de Elviria the pool usually sits on a terrace with a change of level and steps; in Marbesa and Las Chapas the streets are narrow and many urbanisations have a gate or barrier. We have to bring long profiles in and handle them beside the pool, so before fixing a date we always ask for photographs of the access and the pool enclosure. If you are not in Spain, phone photographs from your property manager or a neighbour are enough.

Elviria's climate and the right slat for your pool

In Marbesa, Costabella and along the Artola strip the sea is two streets away and the levante carries salt inland all year. That atmosphere decides the material: our structure, shafts, brackets and fixings are AISI 316L stainless steel, the molybdenum-bearing grade for marine atmospheres. On the front line, rinse the shaft and profiles with fresh water every few weeks, above all after a levante blow.

The second factor is the sun. From March to November the pool stands uncovered, and Costa del Sol radiation punishes any plastic not formulated for it. Our slats carry an anti-UV treatment and stabilisers through the mass, not a surface coat that wears away. A cover closed all day in August heats the water a lot, so open it at night.

Elviria lives inside a pinewood: stone pine and cork oak stand over almost every plot in the Pinar de Elviria and the Cerrado. Needles, cones, resin and pollen fall into the water nine months of the year, along with the fine sand the wind lifts off the Artola dunes. With the cover closed almost none of it reaches the pool: the skimmer stops blocking, the filter works less and the floor takes half as long to clean. For a house left empty for weeks, that is the difference between arriving to a swim and arriving to a cleaning job.

Winters in eastern Marbella are mild and many Elviria villas are let by the season, so the pool is not shut from October to May: it is in use or kept warm. That narrows the choice of slat. PVC, in white, grey, blue or sand, resists salt-laden air best and copes best with what falls off the pinewood. Solar polycarbonate uses the hillside sun to warm the water, gaining up to 8 °C during the day at no running cost. Clear polycarbonate shows the floor but asks for very carefully kept water, harder to promise in a house empty half the year.

Recent installations

Almost everything we fit on this coast falls into two groups. The first is a pool built thirty or forty years ago in Las Chapas, El Rosario or Marbesa, where the shaft goes above the coping, nothing is dug up and the pool works again the same day. The second is a newer house on the Elviria Hills hillside, where the pit for the submerged shaft was allowed for before the shell was concreted, so the finished pool shows no mechanism.

In both cases the cover is made to measure for that pool: nothing is cut down on site from a standard kit, which matters on the free-form and overflow pools common on these plots. There are more photographs in our picture library.

Heating an Elviria pool: the cover comes first

The season here is long to begin with, so the question in Elviria is rarely whether to heat the pool but what it costs to keep it warm. That depends mostly on what happens overnight.

A pool loses heat above all through evaporation: every litre that evaporates carries off the heat it needed to evaporate, and it does so in the small hours, when the air is colder and drier than the water. An automatic slatted cover closes the surface and cuts that evaporation by 70 to 80 per cent. Against the running cost of a heat pump the saving is 50 to 60 per cent: heating a pool without a cover costs roughly twice as much.

So the order we recommend is the cover first, the equipment afterwards: with the surface closed, the heat pump is sized smaller, starts up fewer times and lasts longer. Choose solar polycarbonate and the water gains up to 8 °C during the day with no consumption at all.

Architects, contractors and developers in Elviria

We manufacture in our own workshop in Torrijos, Toledo, with structure and ironmongery in AISI 316L stainless steel, and we carry out the installation ourselves. For a practice, a builder or a developer, the cover has to be decided at design stage: the pit for a submerged shaft has to be allowed for before the shell is concreted, and a cover that only appears at the end of the job is normally resolved with a visible shaft.

In Elviria that decision comes up constantly, because overflow pools and free forms are the rule rather than the exception on the Elviria Hills and Cerrado de Elviria plots, and both need the bearing edges thought through early. Send us the pool drawings and we will tell you what to leave ready. If the client is yours, the client stays yours.

Architects, contractors and developers in Elviria

We manufacture in our own workshop in Torrijos (Toledo), with the structure and all fittings in 316L stainless steel, and we carry out the installation ourselves. For a practice, a main contractor or a developer, the decision that really matters is taken at design stage: a recess for the submerged shaft has to be allowed for in the pool shell before any concrete is poured, whereas an automatic slatted cover brought in at the end of the build is normally resolved with a visible shaft resting on the coping. If the project is in Elviria and the client is yours, the relationship stays with you.
